The National Police confirmed this Friday that it has executed Operation Anhilus, a surgical intervention that has dismantled an organized group specialized in the logistics of drug entry along the eastern coast of the island. The operation, led by the Drug Enforcement Group of the Telde Police Station, culminated in the early hours of November 2 with the interception of a large shipment at the Taliarte marina.
The operation’s results in figures indicate that 64 bales of hashish pollen have been detected, totaling 2,800 kilograms and with an estimated value of over 5 million euros. Six individuals have been arrested (four on-site and two following subsequent investigations). All have been placed in custody.
The operation caught the organization in the middle of the unloading phase. The modus operandi consisted of using a fishing vessel—common transport to camouflage illicit activities along the Canary coast—to transfer the goods to a land transport van. The immediate police intervention at the time of the seizure neutralized the capacity for reaction of those involved.
Under the confidentiality of the judicial investigation, the six arrested individuals have been sent to preventive custody. This seizure removes from the illicit market a quantity of hashish pollen that, due to its volume, was presumably intended not only for local consumption but also for redistribution to the continental European market.
