Intellectual Property Rights

High-quality, specialized journalism in the maritime sector requires continuous investment in experts, data analysis, and on-the-ground presence at ports. Our ability to continue delivering this information depends on respect for our intellectual property. By using Canarymaritime, you agree to comply with this policy, which forms part of our Terms and Conditions.

This policy was last updated on December 14, 2026.

1. What Do We Protect?

All material published on our website, newsletters, and digital platforms (articles, maritime traffic data, charts, photographs, and technical analysis) is protected by intellectual property laws. Unauthorized use may result in legal liability for both the individual and the organization they represent.

  • Share links to our articles using the tools integrated into our website.

3. Limited Distribution and Redistribution

Copying full articles for inclusion in emails, corporate intranets, or external newsletters is not permitted without a specific license. However, to encourage information sharing within the sector, the following is allowed provided that no “substitute product” is created:

  • Teaser Text: You may publish the original headline and up to the first 140 characters of the article, always accompanied by a direct link to the full story on our website.

  • RSS Feeds: You may use our RSS feeds for personal use or browser-based viewing. They must be attributed as: “© Canarymaritime [year]”. Archiving feeds or using them in paid services is not permitted.

4. Rules for Summaries and Excerpts

If you wish to include Canarymaritime information in your own reports or original works, you must comply with the following conditions:

  • Excerpts: A maximum of 30 words copied verbatim, with attribution:
“[Journalist’s Name] from Canarymaritime reported that…” and a link to the original article.

  • Abstracts: An original summary of no more than 30 words describing the reported facts, stating:
“This summary of Canarymaritime content was produced by [Your Name]” with a link to the original article.

  • Limit: No more than 10 summaries per day may be produced by the same organization, in order to prevent substitution of the original service.

5. What Is Strictly PROHIBITED?

Unless you hold an additional commercial or corporate license, you may not:

  • Share Credentials: Subscription passwords are personal and non-transferable. We monitor access to detect credential sharing.

  • AI and Machine Learning Use: The use of our content, data, or metadata for the training, development, or operation of Artificial Intelligence or machine learning models is strictly prohibited without explicit authorization.

  • Databases: Systematic storage, scraping, or the use of data mining technologies to create proprietary databases using our content is not permitted.

  • Advertising and Endorsement: You may not use our articles to promote or endorse products or services without prior written consent.

6. Linking to Canarymaritime

We welcome links to our portal, provided that:

  • Our logo is not altered and no false endorsement by Canarymaritime is implied.
