The Baleària Foundation and the Andalusia House in Dénia have launched the 26th edition of the Adolfo Utor Acevedo International Poetry Prize. The initiative retains its original structure with two independent language modalities: one in Spanish and the other in Valencian, with €5,000 allocated to each category. The winning works will receive editorial support for commercial publication and institutional promotion of the authors through monographic literary events. Here you can download the guidelines.
The competition aims to build on the momentum achieved in the previous year, when the call saw more than one thousand poetry collections submitted from various locations. In that 2025 edition, poet Jacob Lorenzo won in the Spanish-language category with La Casa de la luz, while writer Magda Añón received recognition in Valencian for her work Blanca de Saia.
The guidelines for this call set the deadline for submissions for original manuscripts until 18 December 2026 via the specialist digital platform Mundoarti. The requirements specify a length of between 300 and 900 lines per manuscript. The formal evaluation of the entries will be handled by two independent juries made up of figures from the academic and literary fields.
The final verdict will be announced at a public gala scheduled for 3 April 2027 in the city of Dénia, aligning the event with the birth month of Adolfo Utor Acevedo. In this way, the shipping company and the associated institution renew their sponsorship for artistic creation and the preservation of the literary heritage linked to the municipality in Alicante.
