The logistics delegation from the Canary Islands is heading to Brazil to participate in Intermodal South America 2026, which will take place from April 14 to 16 in the Anhembi exhibition district in São Paulo. This event, established as the reference platform for the supply chain on the continent, will feature a Spain Pavilion (stand C040) coordinated by ICEX and Puertos del Estado, where the logistics and port services offered by our country will be presented.
This trade mission acquires special strategic relevance in the current context of 2026. The presence of port authorities from Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Las Palmas, alongside freight forwarding companies such as the Canarian subsidiaries of Romeu and Raminatrans, aims to capture cargo flows that, given the instability of the routes from the Middle East and the closure of Ormuz, are redesigning the maps of global transportation. Participation in São Paulo is therefore an opportunity to strengthen the position of the Canary ports as essential transshipment nodes in the new ‘Atlantic route’ connecting Europe with Latin America and West Africa.
For industry professionals, the meeting in Anhembi will not only be a space for networking and joint ventures but also a key forum to discuss the logistical viability in an industry facing unprecedented challenges. With an agenda marked by the need for safe alternatives to Asian routes, the Spanish delegation will attempt to position the operational excellence of its infrastructures against global competition that, as seen in recent weeks, is operating under unparalleled operational and fuel cost pressures.
