The Port of Las Palmas, which launches its proposals within the framework of Fitur 2026, faces the final stretch of January 2026 as a primary economic engine, with a traffic forecast that will lead the city to receive a total of 32,233 people in just ten days. This record number of cruise passengers underscores the logistical capacity of the port facility to manage both large-capacity vessels and luxury boats seeking the exclusivity of the Canary Islands destination.

The concentration of over 32,000 consumer units within a span of 240 hours represents a logistical challenge for the city, but also an immediate influx of liquidity for the business fabric of the Gran Canaria capital. Efficiency in turnaround and management of land flows will be critical to maintaining the competitiveness of Las Palmas against other competing ports in Morocco or Portugal. The Port of La Luz thus reaffirms its role not only as a nautical refuge but also as a fundamental economic growth engine for the regional GDP in the first quarter of the year.

The sector expects that this density of traffic will act as a catalyst for future investments in decarbonization infrastructure and LNG supply at the dock, given the recurrence of next-generation ships such as the AIDAcosma. Activity will intensify starting January 21 with the arrival of La Belle des Oceans and its 128 passengers, followed by the Corinthian with 98 travelers between January 22 and 23. However, the first major peak of influx will occur on January 23, when the Costa Fortuna and the MSC Musica coincide at the dock, summing up to 5,394 people in a single day. This constant flow of visitors poses a challenge and an opportunity for the local commerce and restaurant sectors.

The weekend of January 24 and 25 will mark the most frenetic pace of the season. The colossal AIDAcosma will dock on Saturday with 6,654 passengers, becoming the largest call of the month. Just a few hours later, on Sunday the 25th, the Mein Schiff Relax will bring an additional 3,984 visitors. The tide of cruise passengers will continue on Monday the 26th with the Mein Schiff 7 (2,900 people) and on Tuesday the 27th with the Celebrity Infinity (2,046 people), maintaining the tourist buzz in the capital.

The end of the month will not give any respite. On January 31, the Port of Las Palmas will again showcase its best face with a new call of the AIDAcosma (6,654 passengers) and the docking of the Spirit of Discovery (999 people). Between these two ships and the intermediate calls of vessels such as the Azura or the Wind Star, the city will have channeled the transit of the 32,233 expected people, consolidating Las Palmas de Gran Canaria as the epicenter of the winter Atlantic routes.
