The Atlantic connection between the Spanish free trade zones has taken a decisive step in Gran Canaria under the guidance of the Director of the Gran Canaria Free Trade Zone, Gabriel Corujo. In a commercial mission that reinforces the alliance between the seven tax precincts in the country, the delegate of the Cádiz Free Trade Zone, Francisco González, has arrived in Gran Canaria this January with a clear objective: to share synergies and ‘capture’ successful models in sustainability and technological entrepreneurship.
One of the key points of the visit was the Incube building, managed by the Economic Promotion Society of Gran Canaria. The representatives from Cádiz, led by Cosme García, analyzed this space specifically designed for ICT companies applied to tourism and leisure. What has caught the attention of the Cádiz delegation the most is the building’s architecture, which uses natural ventilation and lighting to minimize energy consumption, a model that mirrors the sustainability criteria of the Base-Zone Incubazul project on the mainland.
The interest is not only theoretical. During their stay, they held meetings with companies that have already expressed their desire to expand to the mainland during the high-tech incubators day held last October in Las Palmas. The aim of this mission has been to facilitate contacts, share reference models, and give external visibility to both precincts in strategic geographical areas. González emphasized that becoming acquainted with these innovative spaces serves to enrich the entrepreneurial ecosystem that the Cádiz Free Trade Zone is currently building.
