The boycott by members of the Board of Directors of the Foundation of Las Palmas Ports has forced the suspension of the approval of the financial statements for the 2025 fiscal year. With the data in the hands of the members, the distribution of funds that has been questioned by Puertos del Estado in the audit delivered last April and presented to the Board of Directors of the Port Authority of Las Palmas this June has become known. Among the expenses, there are nearly 12,000 euros to the Maritime Collectors Association (Accomar), of which Juan Fonte, a member of the Foundation of Las Palmas Ports, is part. A prominent member of that association is Jurgen Flick, who signed an agreement to transfer items from his company to the Port Authority of Las Palmas, Flick Canarias.

The pending accounting records reveal an item of 171,486.56 euros categorized under atypical expenses. The cash flow was channeled towards a mix of community, sports, and religious entities unrelated to the logistics activities of the customs facility. The breakdown of the funds details direct allocations to port-related groups such as the cultural association Sentir del Carmen, ACR Cargadores Virgen de la Luz, and the La Luz de la Naval Association, in addition to covering costs for award ceremony decorations and financing events related to the canonical coronation of the Virgin of Carmen.
Funds allocated to events and sports clubs
The sponsorship area balance reflects capital outflow toward the sports community fabric of the Gran Canaria capital. The foundation covered the financial support of the Interisleta football team (it has donated a vehicle from the Foundation without presumed public competition, in addition to funds), contributions to the C.F. Puerto tournament, financial support for the Half Marathon, and sponsorship of the combined Swimrun event. Moreover, there are disbursements benefiting the Casa de Galicia for its Christmas campaign for the Three Kings, transfers to an entrepreneurs association of start-ups aimed at the transport of bicycles to Gambia, and the payment to maritime collectors.
Tightening of treasury and discretionary allocations
The routine expenditure operations included the disbursement of 15,000 euros allocated to the Rapid Painting and Photography Contest. This direct subsidy policy coincides with a decrease in the institution’s bank deposits, which dropped from 863,521.92 euros to 558,436.12 euros at the close of the fiscal year, while the cessation of financing for structural international cooperation programs was decreed, among which was the development plan for African female port workers.
