The Tenerife dock has experienced a day that marks a before and after in its internal hierarchy. The ground staff, let’s call them that because they are not in high positions —technicians, administrative staff, and service operators— have broken the traditional ‘command in place’ of the right-wing dockers, leaving the stevedoring collective completely disoriented. On Thursday, not only would the president of the Port of Tenerife, Pedro Suárez, have been upset, as the mobilization took him by surprise outside of Spain, but also the dockworkers. That said, in Las Palmas, dockworkers earn an average of 8,800 euros net per month.
