The president of the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Pedro Suárez López, has led a key meeting this week with a delegation of companies from Ukraine. The reception, which took place at the iconic Junta Building of the Port, represents a firm step in the internationalization of the island and the search for new commercial synergies in a context of reconfiguration of European markets. The business mission, organized in close collaboration with the Area of Foreign Action of the Cabildo of Tenerife and the investment promotion brand Why Tenerife?, seeks to explore the capabilities of the Chicharrero infrastructure as a logistics platform. The insular director of Foreign Action, Pedro González, accompanied the Ukrainian representatives, emphasizing the institutional support of the island corporation for this market opening that directly links the archipelago to Eastern Europe. The day began with a technical presentation in the Auditorium, where the commercial team of Tenerife Ports detailed the competitive advantages of the island: its tricontinental connectivity, the legal security of the Canary Special Zone (ZEC) and the capacity of its terminals for general cargo and bulk traffic. After the theory, the delegation toured the port facilities to see firsthand the operability of the docks and the maneuverability capacity of a port that aspires to be a key player in international supply chains. This meeting comes at a time when Ukrainian companies are seeking reliable logistics partners outside their traditional borders to maintain the flow of their exports and imports. For Tenerife, this visit is not only an institutional act but a business opportunity for local port service companies to become allies of the Ukrainian industry, especially in sectors such as agri-food, machinery, and basic supplies. The collaboration between the Port Authority, the Cabildo, and Why Tenerife reinforces the island’s image as a safe and strategic business destination. By opening the doors of the Fishing Dock and the cargo terminals to the Ukrainian delegation, the seed of future commercial operations that could materialize into new maritime traffic lines is sown, consolidating Santa Cruz de Tenerife as a node of economic development and international cooperation in the Atlantic.
