Trabajadores por los Puertos de Canarias (TPC), la nueva fuerza sindical del sector portuario en las Islas
The union landscape for the port sector across the archipelago now has a new organisation. The General Labour Directorate of the Government of the Canary Islands has officially validated the incorporation and filing of the bylaws of the union called Trabajadores por los Puertos de Canarias (TPC), granting it full legal capacity to operate and represent workers within the port scope in the autonomous community.
The new group is established with a clear regional vocation and sets its headquarters and registered office on Roque Nublo Street, in the Gran Canaria capital. After completing the relevant legal procedure — formalised with the signature of the Director General of Labour, José Ramón Rodríguez Albertus — the union moved forward.
Behind the creation of TPC is a promoting group made up of five sector representatives: María Elena Ruiz Escuela, Nayara González Díaz, Unise Daimed Pérez Meza, Keila Moreno Suárez and Orlando Domínguez Marrero. They jointly signed both the founding act and the bylaws’ articulated provisions for the entity.
The administrative processing began through the official filing platform for trade union and business organisations at the request of María Elena Ruiz Escuela. After a technical correction requirement issued by the regional administration on 24 July to amend certain defects in the initial documentation, the promoters corrected the files on 27 July, securing the regional executive’s final approval once it was confirmed that there was strict compliance with the Organic Law on Trade Union Freedom and the state regulations on filing bylaws.
With its formal establishment, Trabajadores por los Puertos de Canarias (TPC) makes its entry into the labour arena with a territorial scope covering the entire Canary archipelago. Its functional action framework is defined in Article 3 of its bylaws, through which it aims to channel representation, defence and negotiation of workers’ labour rights across the various infrastructures and industries linked to maritime traffic and port activity in the Islands.
The entry Nace Trabajadores por los Puertos de Canarias (TPC), la nueva fuerza sindical del sector portuario en las Islas was first published on canarymaritime.com.
