The Board of Directors of the Port Authority of Las Palmas, convened by its president Beatriz Calzada for this March 26, is set to validate a series of movements that define the map of private interests in the facility. At the center of the agenda is the pressure regarding the deadlines for executing major infrastructures. The Economic Promotion Society of Gran Canaria (SPEGC) requests a new extension to finalize the works on its multifunctional innovation center in Functional Area 9, a project of 2,079 square meters built that seeks to energize the port entrepreneurial ecosystem but continues to struggle with the administrative timeline. The large vessel nautical sector is also requesting temporary relief. The company Rodritol, S.L. has submitted a request for an extension for Phase II of its service center for sports vessels at the Refugio Dock. With an occupation of 17,092 square meters of land area and associated water surface, the project is critical for consolidating Las Palmas as a luxury yacht repair hub, a high added-value sector that watches cautiously for the compliance of its construction milestones. In a similar vein, Divarian Propiedad, S.A. seeks to extend the margin for construction works of Phase II in the Tertiary Activities Area of ‘El Muelle’ in Santa Catalina, a vital enclave for leisure and commercial activity at the port. The dynamism of public domain is also reflected in new entry requests. Sergio Ramos Pulido aims for the granting of a concession of 1,158 square meters in Functional Area 4A for the storage and distribution of supplies and spare parts for ships, an essential link in the bunkering logistics chain. Meanwhile, the service and catering offer includes the proposal from Jovita Hortensia Vega Sarmiento for a 100-square-meter bar-terrace in Functional Area 10, reflecting ongoing interest in the exploitation of service spaces in the service area. In the compliance and sustainability section, the port plans to extend the agreement with Gesport Terminal Marítima, S.L. related to environmental good practices. This agreement is crucial for the company as it regulates access to activity rate bonuses, directly linking ecological efficiency with financial profitability. In contrast, legal certainty is put to the test with the request for a review in order to declare the nullity of an employment contract, an unusual move that underscores scrutiny over the human resources of the entity. The procurement section opens new business opportunities for specialized suppliers. The APLP will initiate files for the supply of cable trays intended for the electrical connections of the container cranes—crucial for the electrification of the dock—and for the implementation of access control software. Additionally, extensions of current services will be processed to guarantee daily operations: the maintenance of facilities in Gran Canaria, wildlife control in the Port of Arrecife, and advisory mediation in private insurance, safeguarding the continuity of current suppliers in critical maintenance and risk management areas.
