The security in the port environment of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has enhanced its level of operational integration. Under the direction of the Civil Guard Command, personnel from the Port Police have participated this week in specialized training aimed at streamlining protocols for joint action in crisis scenarios. The goal is ambitious: to transform the port area into a watertight environment against threats of terrorism, breaches of citizen security, and attacks on critical infrastructure.
The day, held on April 23, was not limited to administrative theory. The focus was on simultaneous coordination; that is, to ensure that, in the event of a real emergency, the communication flows between the Port Police — the first responders at the dock — and the Civil Guard are immediate and seamless. In a logistical node that manages everything from mass cruises to the supply of renewable fuels, the protection of strategic assets has become an absolute priority for the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
Optimization of emergency response. This move responds to the need to professionalize surveillance in a scenario of increasing international tension. The training aims to optimize effectiveness in response, minimizing reaction times and avoiding operational duplicities that could compromise the security of the facility. By reinforcing the training of port personnel under the standards of the Benemérita, Tenerife Ports ensures that its ‘community police’ have the necessary tactical tools to identify and contain risk situations before they escalate.
Institutional cooperation reaffirms Pedro Suárez’s strategy to project an image of a safe and reliable port for international operators. At a time when port security is a differential value for shipping companies and logistics firms, Tenerife bets on the symbiosis between operational bodies as the best insurance for business continuity and the integrity of its facilities.
