The consignments map for the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife reflects the clear dominance of traditional firms at the start of the peak cruise season. Scheduled operations at the ports of Tenerife, La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro involve seven agencies responsible for customs clearance, provisioning and technical assistance for the transatlantic and itinerary-based cruise lines operating on the Atlantic circuit.
Pérez y Cía. comfortably leads the provincial market in terms of tonnage, passenger capacity and rotations. The firm handles the technical clearance of the largest vessels, notably the Azura’s regular calls at Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Santa Cruz de La Palma, as well as the shoreside services for vessels such as Britannia, Arvia, AIDAprima and Spirit of Adventure.
Hamilton y Cía. has consolidated its position as the sector’s second-largest operator by capturing the German source market. The ship agent centralizes the logistics for the fleet operated by TUI Cruises through the berthing of Mein Schiff 2 and Mein Schiff 6, sharing operations at the ports of Tenerife and La Palma, while also coordinating calls by Europa 2 and the expedition vessel Hanseatic Spirit between La Palma and San Sebastián de La Gomera.
Miller y Cía. coordinates the island logistics for Amadea during its successive calls at Tenerife, La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro, in addition to managing National Geographic Endurance at La Palma’s dock. Fred. Olsen (Bonheur) handles the direct consignment of calls by the exploration vessel Le Laperouse at the ports of La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro, as well as providing occasional support to Spirit of Adventure on La Gomera.
Operations at the port facilities in the Tenerife capital are rounded out by three specialized operators. Intercruises Port Operations Spain handles the arrival of Celebrity Apex and Norwegian Star; Noatum Maritime Spain manages Le Laperouse’s calls during its stays at the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife; and Incargo provides the shoreside logistics for Scarlet Lady, part of the Virgin Voyages fleet.
The port of Santa Cruz de La Palma has launched the 2026–2027 cruise season with the inaugural call of Nieuw Statendam, Holland America Line’s flagship. The vessel’s arrival provided the setting for the traditional exchange of commemorative plaques between representatives of the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and ship agent Miller y Cía., which is responsible for the liner’s operations on the island of La Palma.
The schedule for the current season projects 220 calls through August 2027, with a potential total of more than 480,000 cruise passengers. The season stands out for the addition of 13 maiden calls, including the arrival of Mein Schiff 6, scheduled for October 24, and the successive November calls by Insignia, Costa Smeralda and Enchanted Princess.
The peak of operational intensity will be concentrated in the winter months, with 48 calls projected for December and 33 for January. The mass influx of passengers during the European summer season provides a direct boost to the island economy, driving activity in shoreside services, retail, local restaurants and the excursions sector across La Palma.
