Government Delegate in the Canary Islands Anselmo Pestana will inaugurate the Hidramar Ultra 22000 floating dock, owned by the Hidramar group, at 12:00 p.m. this Wednesday at the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The facility has been moored at the port since April, following a voyage of approximately 10,000 miles from Shanghai, China, and can accommodate vessels of up to 180 meters in length and 22,000 tonnes. The project has received support from the European Union in Spain through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), as well as regional incentives from the Spanish government. The infrastructure, measuring 240 meters in total length and 48 meters in external beam, will serve a market segment that has so far been underserved in the archipelago, particularly the Panamax vessel segment—cargo ships with a maximum beam of 32.3 meters to enable them to pass through the Panama Canal.
