The Posada de Jamaica has initiated the definitive transformation of the rooftop of the Foundation Puerto de Las Palmas building to turn it into the new reference point for nighttime leisure in the capital of Gran Canaria. In administrative matters, the City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has opened the required public exhibition period for twenty days so that any affected person can present substantiated claims. This procedure is essential for the entity to obtain the final municipal opening license. Among the technical requirements that must be met by the project is the installation of a second elevator, as the only existing one in the Foundation building is insufficient for the expected transit of people, as well as the adaptation of access for emergency teams and the use of safety glass enclosures. The project, which already has the approval of the Port Authority of Las Palmas, contemplates the creation of a music bar with an outdoor terrace strategically located between the El Muelle Shopping Center and the Poema del Mar Aquarium. This action involves the reconversion of a space of about 1,200 square meters that until now has mainly hosted technological innovation and social activities. The planned investment to adapt this venue exceeds one million euros and will allow for the design of a party room with three distinct areas, including a zone for DJs, a space for standing music listeners, and an area for customers who prefer to sit. To ensure the project’s viability in accordance with municipal regulations, the promoting company has committed to carrying out a complete soundproofing of the venue, a critical measure due to the proximity of the Aquarium, whose activities are incompatible with excessive noise. In addition, high-quality materials such as tropical wood, ceramics, and artificial grass will be used for the construction of the new facilities. This entrepreneurial initiative is part of an ambitious plan to revitalize the leisure triangle that runs between Santa Catalina Park, Sanapú Dock, and the shopping center. The area already features other large-scale projects, such as the future Limbo terrace on the roof of El Muelle and the Savana nightclub on its ground floor. With this relocation of recreational activities towards port and outdoor spaces, the aim is to stimulate the local economy and consolidate a modern leisure hub that does not interfere with the rest of the residential areas in the center of the city.
