International shipping agency Inchcape Shipping Services has marked the first anniversary of the launch of its operational office at the Port of Las Palmas. Led locally by Angel Mayor Trenzado, the company has consolidated, during its first 12 months, an integrated support infrastructure designed to respond to the operational demands of maritime traffic at the strategic crossroads of Europe, Africa and the Americas. This article was prepared without prior commercial negotiations with the company and entities mentioned, in keeping with Canarymaritime’s commitment to its readers.
The company’s shareholding structure reflects a strong presence of international funds and institutions, led by Citibank, followed by Capital Research & Management Co., Fidelity Management & Research, Chilean company DTDYD SpA, with 12.83 million shares representing 3.675%, and British firm M&G Investment Management Ltd., which completes this group of strategic investors.
During this first year of activity, the Gran Canaria office has rolled out a broad portfolio of port services, ranging from shipping agency and protective agency services to the operational management of bunkering, including BQS inspections, and industry support. The company also manages specialized services such as crew changes, provisions logistics, victualling for livestock vessels and emergency medical assistance at anchorage.
In reviewing this first operational milestone, Mayor Trenzado highlighted the synergy between the company’s presence and knowledge of the La Luz port environment and Inchcape’s global network. The company publicly expressed its gratitude to local suppliers, port authorities and clients, explicitly mentioning the commitment shown by industry professionals such as Juan Francisco Suárez Valencia and Jesús Betancort Armas in consolidating the project in the archipelago.
