Las consignatarias en los puertos canarios: PIC lidera en Las Palmas el mercado del crucero hasta 2027
The cruise passenger business in the archipelago is approaching the final stretch of 2026 under a scenario of strict commercial consolidation and intense competition among maritime consignation operators. The operation of providing assistance to cruise ships in the islands—an invisible mechanism that moves millions of euros in passenger traffic, provisions, port fees and technical port services—shows a quota distribution heavily concentrated among the largest consignation operators.
A detailed analysis of the schedule of port calls notified by agents to port authorities between mid-August 2026 and 1 January 2027 provides a clear picture: the undisputed dominance of the historic Pérez y Cía. group, followed by the firm momentum of Transcoma, while specialized firms such as Noatum Maritime, Intercruises and MSC Canarias consolidate key niches with very high added value. In the period analyzed, a total of 85 operational cruise calls are recorded (excluding the dry-dock technical repair call).
Pérez y Cía. is confirmed as the sector’s hegemonic giant, capturing 39 port calls, representing an overwhelming 45.88% share of the market. The key to its leadership lies in locking in the major accounts of global groups Carnival Corporation and Costa Crociere: it channels almost exclusively the overwhelming seasonal operations of the German brand AIDA Cruises (with the ships AIDAPrima, AIDABlu, AIDAperla, AIDAstella, AIDAsol, AIDAcosma and AIDAluna) and the British fleet of P&O Cruises (Ventura, Iona, Britannia, Azura, Arcadia), in addition to the regular calls of Costa Crociere (Costa Smeralda, Costa Diadema, Costa Favolosa), Cunard and the exclusive expedition cruises of Saga Shipping.Hamilton & Cía.
Hamilton & Cía. strengthens its position as the second-largest player at the Las Palmas berths, securing 12 calls, equivalent to 14.12% of the market share.
The consignation company for the Transcoma group sustains its business volume thanks to its preferred alliance with the German carrier TUI Cruises. Hamilton channels the constant embarkation, disembarkation and transit operations of the prolific Mein Schiff series (Mein Schiff 3, 5, 6, 7 and the new Mein Schiff Relax), adding cruise calls as well from ultra-luxury lines such as Hapag-Lloyd (Europa 2) and British passenger options from Ambassador Cruise Line.
The third step on the podium is occupied by the multinational Noatum Maritime, which, with 10 calls, records 11.76% of the market share. Unlike the massive passenger volumes of its competitors, Noatum’s strategy focuses on the luxury, expedition and boutique cruise segment. The consignation company handles exclusively the complex calls of the French operator Ponant (Le Ponant, Le Laperouse, Le Boréal, Le Dumont D’Urville, Le Champlain), the classic sailing ships of Sea Cloud Cruises (Sea Cloud II, Sea Cloud Spirit, Sea Cloud), the emblematic fleet of Star Clippers sailboats (Star Flyer, Star Clipper), and ultra-high-end vessels such as Silver Endeavour and Silver Nova from Silversea, as well as the debut of Four Seasons I.
For its part, Intercruises Shoreside & Port Services holds 9 calls (10.59% share), positioning itself as the reference partner for major North American brands and British interporting. It manages calls for Celebrity Cruises (Celebrity Apex, Celebrity Infinity), Norwegian Cruise Line (Norwegian Star), the British Marella Cruises (Marella Discovery 2, Marella Explorer), as well as the premium range of Oceania Cruises (Insignia, Sirena) and Regent Seven Seas.
MSC Cruises, the Italian-capital cruise line, through its own subsidiary MSC Canarias, retains 6 calls for 7.06% of the market share. The firm focuses its activity on the fleet giants (MSC Virtuosa, MSC Meraviglia, MSC Splendida and MSC Fantasia), handling both transit calls and complex embarkation/disembarkation maneuvers for local and international passenger traffic.
The cruise consignation map across the islands is completed by specialized operators that serve specific accounts. The British Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines manages directly the 4 calls of its ships (Borealis, Balmoral, Bolette), representing 4.71% of the market. The CroisiEurope line, consigned by Vapores Suardíaz, adds 4 calls (4.71%) with its ship La Belle des Oceans.
Finally, Incargo records 2 calls (2.35%) by supporting ships Scarlet Lady (Virgin Voyages) and Wind Spirit (Windstar), while Miller y Cía. takes on 2 calls (2.35%) for the German carrier Phoenix Reisen (Amadea, Amera), and Canarship closes the roster with 2 calls (2.35%) split between Holland America Line (Nieuw Statendam) and Princess Cruises (Island Princess).
The snapshot left by the booking calendar through the arrival of the new year 2027 confirms that cruise consignation logistics in the Canaries respond to a highly tiered market: Pérez y Cía. and Transcoma jointly control nearly 60% of all port operations in the sector, basing their leadership on the main flows of German and British cruise lines, while the remaining 40% is atomized among global consignation companies specialized in expedition, high luxury, or direct management of corporate fleets.
