The Presidency of the Port Authority of Las Palmas continues its intense management of public funds, having reached a total of 359 contracts put out to tender. The contracting volume channelled through the port authority amounts to a cumulative €70 million in the institution’s recent history. The trend shows accelerated growth in the allocation of funds since 2024, reaching its peak last year, in 2025, when €14 million was awarded in a single financial year.

A breakdown by activity places construction at the heart of port investment. Works projects account for 59% of the contracts awarded, followed by architecture and engineering, with 15%; transport services, with 9%; and repair and maintenance work, with 6%. The most frequently recurring budget items include maritime works, various paving projects and works at marinas.

The Port Authority of Las Palmas’ supplier map reflects the list of contractors carrying out the public entity’s projects. Lopesan Asfaltos y Construcciones leads in economic volume, with €10 million awarded across four contracts. The list of leading contractors is completed by J Parrilla, with five awards totalling €15,825; Inoxnaval Lanzarote, with three awards worth €15,126; Distribuidora Eléctrica Canaria, with three contracts totalling €15,009; and Carpincri Sociedad Anónima, with three awards valued at €8,942.

The 2026 tender calendar remains open for five projects at port facilities in the province. The largest investment is for the first phase of paving secondary roads at the Port of Los Mármoles in Lanzarote, with a base budget of €599,896. This project is joined by the refurbishment of the Arrecife Fishing Wharf, with an allocation of €597,792.

The list of projects currently out to tender includes the purchase of equipment for port security forces through the supply of protective vests for the Port Police, for €164,293. The infrastructure plan is completed by minor works on the islands’ maritime signals network, focusing on improvement work at Arinaga Lighthouse, with a budget of €47,304, and Punta Pesebre Lighthouse, with an allocated budget of €43,469. The deadline for submitting bids for all these public works ends in mid-October this year.
