The Port Authority of Las Palmas has formalized the technical specifications for hiring a specialized service for aerial photography and video with drones (UAS). The strategic objective of this tender is to obtain high-resolution and up-to-date visual information of all port infrastructures under the entity’s jurisdiction, as well as to accurately document the evolution of ongoing works. The contract covers operations in the ports of Las Palmas, Salinetas, Arinaga, Puerto del Rosario, and Arrecife, including critical areas such as the Small Vessel Dock and the berthing lines.
The service is based on a minimum monthly workload that includes 85 aerial images and 35 minutes of edited video. A key aspect of the operation is the on-demand filming of cruise ship movements and oil platforms, always maintaining a safety distance of at least 150 meters. The technical requirements are high, requiring minimum resolutions of 5472 x 3648 pixels for photography and 4K format for video, with the material delivered copyright-free for the promotional and advertising use of the Port Authority.
As for the temporal and financial dimensions, the tender establishes an initial duration of three years with the possibility of a one-year extension. The base budget for the three-year period amounts to 150,228 euros, taxes included. However, the estimated total value of the contract, considering the four-year extension, is set at 187,200 euros before taxes. The documents for the tender were validated with a final signing date of October 1, 2025, by the authority’s management.
Operational safety and regulatory compliance represent the core of the tender, requiring that the awardee be authorized by AESA and have certified pilots for STS operational categories. Given the complexity of the controlled airspaces in the Canary Islands, the company must coordinate each flight with ENAIRE, SAERCO, or the managers of the nearby aerodromes and heliports. Furthermore, for filming in urban areas or over crowds, such as cruise docks, prior communication with the Ministry of the Interior is required at least five days in advance.
