The Port of Las Palmas accelerates its transformation towards a model of high value-added services with the awarding to the construction company Pérez Moreno of the works for the new Nautical Center of the Muelle del Refugio. The project, led by the company Rodritol, represents a strategic investment exceeding three million euros, aimed at consolidating Gran Canaria’s leadership in the repair and maintenance of large vessels and professional nautical services in the Atlantic.
The infrastructure will span an area of 17,092 square meters, where technical functionality will combine with state-of-the-art auxiliary services. The operational core will consist of an open workshop building of over 3,000 square meters, designed to accommodate complex mechanical and hydraulic interventions and equipped for crane installations. This facility will enable the port to compete directly for maintenance contracts for yachts and technical vessels operating in the maritime corridor between Europe and Africa.
The design of the complex breaks with the traditional port workshop scheme by integrating three differentiated functional blocks. In addition to the repair area, the center will include an administrative building for project reception and management and a third building that will house commercial and dining areas. This comprehensive approach aims to enhance the experience of shipowners and crews, offering a modern environment that includes changing rooms and rest areas, adapting to the hospitality standards required by the international nautical sector in 2026.
The execution of the project, which includes the complete urbanization of the plot and the installation of efficient energy supplies, reinforces the commitment of the Port of Las Palmas to sustainability and specialization. With the commencement of this work, the Muelle del Refugio is preparing to become a dynamic nautical ecosystem that will not only generate qualified technical employment but also elevate the operational prestige of the Gran Canaria capital as a nerve center of sports and professional shipping.
