Moroccan authorities are investigating a possible accident involving leakage in which two fishing boats were implicated off the coast of Dakhla, in the disputed territory of Western Sahara.
It is suspected that the longliner Njm Al Shamal, flying the Libyan flag, was involved in the collision that sank the small Moroccan fishing vessel Miss Dakar 2, leaving five fishermen missing. The Moroccan Navy intercepted the Al Shamal off Tan-Tan, near the Canary Islands, and redirected it to the port of Agadir for investigation. According to Moroccan investigators, after the accident, the Njm Al Shamal left the scene, changed course, and headed towards Spanish waters. The search for the missing fishermen continues, and an investigation is underway regarding the circumstances of the collision and the movements of the Al Shamal.
AIS data provided by Pole Star Global confirms that on March 26, the Al Shamal suddenly reduced its speed to four knots off El Marsa, in Western Sahara, turned north, and entered Spanish waters off Fuerteventura. After remaining for a time off Costa Calma, the vessel continued its journey in international waters until it was intercepted on the 27th. It arrived in Agadir under Moroccan custody on the 28th.

En algunas noticias se indica que el Capitán fue trasladado a Las Palmas para atención médica. ¿Se sabe por qué ese destino? ¿Es español?
