In the heavy logistics business, where operational margins are calculated to the millimeter due to the volatility of fuel prices, an arithmetic error in the official bulletin can drastically alter the cash provisions of transportation companies. The General Directorate of Labor of the Government of the Canary Islands has had to intervene urgently to correct a strong discrepancy in the Collective Agreement of the Road Freight Transport Sector of the province of Las Palmas, raising the annual labor cost of the leading category of the sector. The resolution signed by the general director, José Ramón Rodríguez, corrects a substantial deviation originally published on May 22. In the salary table designed to govern the second half of the year — from July 1 to December 31 — the total annual compensation for ‘Personnel driving heavy articulated vehicles transporting Dangerous Goods’ had been erroneously set at 19,627.11 euros. The actual figure agreed upon by the Joint Parity Commission amounts to 23,311.15 euros, representing an upward adjustment of 18.7% in the labor liabilities per employee for this specific group. This financial revision directly impacts the balance sheets of the logistics operators of the archipelago. The breakdown of the labor cost for these specialized drivers reveals a base salary of 1,241.37 euros per month, a unified transport allowance of 83.88 euros, and a technical supplement for transporting dangerous goods valued at 223.67 euros per month. The premium for handling high-risk cargo is the main factor that differentiates these professionals from the standard articulated vehicle driver, whose annual compensation remains frozen at the initially assigned figure of 19,627.11 euros, the amount mistakenly assigned to the personnel handling Dangerous Goods. The fixed cost structure of the sector is complemented by a catalog of variable concepts indexed to port and inter-island activity. Canary transportation assumes sensitive variables such as the monthly allowance for type B dangerous goods set at 205.59 euros, the complement for Saturdays worked at a rate of 40.74 euros per day, and a per diem for overnight stays of 55.06 euros for trips outside the usual island. Overtime is set at an economic floor of 12.11 euros, while night hours raise the overtime rate to 14.87 euros. The official bulletin has not only served as a backdrop for the adjustment of freight transport. The General Directorate of Labor has simultaneously processed the registration and deposit of the new labor framework for the Industry, Technology, and Metal Services of the Province of Las Palmas, an agreement with a long-term validity horizon expiring on December 31, 2028. This document introduces a progressive reduction in working hours, a key indicator for sector productivity, which will decrease from 1,761 annual hours in the current fiscal year to 1,759 hours at the end of the agreed period. The metal agreement also includes a salary guarantee clause linked to the accumulated inflation between 2025 and 2028, with a revision cap limited to 2% against the real CPI certified by the National Statistics Institute. With the ratification of both texts, employers and unions in Las Palmas conclude weeks of intense regulatory activity, stabilizing the labor costs of two of the industrial engines with the greatest economic traction in the island territory.

He is not a hunter of headlines—though he once was—but a reader of documents; someone who prefers verified data to quick applause, context to noise.
