Over alleged favoritism. The labor dispute at the Las Palmas Port Authority has moved into the judicial arena, delivering a direct blow to the facility’s leadership. Carmen Gloria Rodríguez, the institution’s head of Human Resources, will appear as a person under investigation on August 26. The summons follows a forceful filing by a former employee, who has formally warned the port’s president, Beatriz Calzada, of the risk of incurring serious criminal liability if she continues refusing to open disciplinary proceedings against the executive. The summons was signed by Antonio López, the former anti-drug prosecutor for the Canary Islands.
As Canarymaritime reported, Rodríguez faces several proceedings. One of them includes a court ruling setting out proven facts, in which the High Court of Justice of the Canary Islands (TSJC) describes a scenario of prolonged professional marginalization and hostile treatment inside the port offices. The ruling details transfers to different posts without technical justification and the clear denial of effective employment to the affected employee—dynamics aimed at causing psychological deterioration. The decision names the people responsible for these alleged harassment practices, placing the head of Human Resources herself at the center of the conduct described. Rodríguez has a boss: director Francisco Trujillo. Carmen Gloria Rodríguez has not only retained her duties but has also seen her position within the entity’s management structure strengthened.
