Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, July 3, 2026
The Puertos de Las Palmas Foundation held its Board of Trustees and Assembly this Friday, where the entity’s accounts were approved. In addition, the trustees adopted a series of measures in response to the internal audit report carried out by Puertos del Estado. Those measures include, first of all, accepting the resignation submitted by the Foundation’s managing director, Betsabé Morales, who addressed the trustees to inform them that she made this decision “so that the disagreements surrounding my appointment do not cause any harm to either the entity, the trustees, or the Foundation’s collaborators that I have had the honor to represent”.
Second, the trustees agreed to continue the processes of awarding and tendering those services deemed necessary until the Foundation is transformed or liquidated. Continuing those processes will therefore involve the ending of the minor contracts that, as of today, ensure the Foundation’s day-to-day operations.
They also approved that the Port Authority commission a legal report to update and supplement the one prepared in 2017. The objective is to analyze the Foundation’s current situation and assess its future options, which include either transforming it in accordance with the 2013 Ministerial Order or liquidating it.
To carry out the Foundation’s transformation or liquidation, the trustees have decided to initiate a new selection process to continue managing the Foundation’s day-to-day operations until its full transformation or liquidation. Finally, it was approved to send all documentation related to the internal audit to the Territorial General Intervention Office.
