The overlap between public employment and the performance of private activities at state administration bodies in Las Palmas reflects a structure of secondary authorisations regulated by current legislation. The Transparency Registry consulted by Canarymaritime says that in the Las Palmas port area and entities linked to maritime logistics and the maritime economy, five people have received administrative clearance to combine their ordinary duties with professional assignments in industrial engineering, financial advisory, teaching and the primary sector.
Cases opened across different management levels
These are cases initiated covering different levels of corporate hierarchy. At the directorate level, G.G., F., division head at the Gran Canaria Port Authority, obtained on February 11, 2016 the resolution to practise as an architect technician. In the communications area, M.G., J. R., head of Communications and Image at the port body, secured on September 5, 2017 compatibility to deliver workshop practical teaching.
The resolutions issued regarding Port Police staff show a range of authorised secondary activities. Agent A.P., J. M., assigned to the Port Authority, received on June 12, 2014 authorisation to run a livestock farming operation on his own account. Meanwhile, port police officer S.M., S., obtained on January 9, 2014 approval for administrative tasks. At Puertos del Estado, agent M.E., J. Authorisations within the Port Police at Puertos del Estado also include G.C., B., who on November 26, 2024 added authorisation to work as an insurance agent for Generali, in addition to being an architect technician and urban planner. The registry also includes the proceedings for port officer C.A., O., with a resolution dated April 22, 2016, and for A.H., J. B., registered on July 9, 2024.
