The Port of Las Palmas has once again positioned itself at the epicenter of the cruise industry after being selected as a finalist for the 2025 Cruceroadicto Awards. The Canary Islands infrastructure is competing for the award for “Best Port in Atlantic Europe,” a distinction it already received in 2023 and now aims to reclaim in order to consolidate its prestige in the Mid-Atlantic. The significance of this nomination is reflected in the figures: out of a total of 1,184 candidates, only 57 have made it through to the final stage.
The President of the Port Authority, Beatriz Calzada, has emphasized that the distinctive value of this award lies in its origin, as it stems directly from the opinions and experiences of cruise passengers themselves. Being ranked among the top three ports in the region represents, for the institution, recognition of the efforts made by the port community to offer a welcoming, competitive, and efficient facility. Las Palmas’ strategy has focused on optimizing embarkation and disembarkation operations and leveraging its privileged integration with the city.
The public jury, made up of international travelers, has particularly valued the port’s connectivity with tourist resources and the quality of services at its terminals. Likewise, the facility’s ability to operate as a home port during the winter season and its infrastructure adapted to transoceanic routes have been key factors in reaching the final round. These elements further strengthen the port’s positioning as a leading logistical and tourist hub compared to its Atlantic competitors.
The outcome of this edition will be announced on January 22, 2026, in Madrid, during the Fitur Cruises event. Beatriz Calzada will attend the official ceremony, which is shaping up to be a key platform for international promotion and networking with the sector’s main operators. Should the port secure the win, it would be the second time Las Palmas has claimed this title, marking a milestone in quality and excellence in passenger service management.
