The Gibraltar logistics group MH Bland has executed a strategic expansion of its consignment division at the Port of Las Palmas. The incorporation of three new operational specialists responds to the need to absorb the increase in activity resulting from the reconfiguration of cargo routes in the Central Atlantic. The company aims to consolidate its market share in the Canary facility by strengthening its ship assistance and berth management departments.
The restructuring of the port agency team includes highly qualified technical profiles to optimize response times at the docks of Gran Canaria. Takeshi Saito re-joins the firm as a senior port agent after a five-year period of specialization in competing companies in the stevedoring and maritime services sector, such as Hamilton and Cía and Ibérica Marítima. In the same technical rank, Alfonso Martínez joins, whose previous experience brings direct knowledge in the supervision of complex operations within regular shipping agencies.
The corporate expansion plan combines this recruitment of senior talent with the development of local human capital to ensure the continuity of twenty-four-hour operational shifts. Guillermo Marrero takes on the role of junior port agent, reinforcing daily support tasks and documentary processing before the customs authorities of Las Palmas. The expansion of the workforce coincides with a high-demand scenario for local consignors, conditioned by the saturation of anchorage areas and the increase in demand for supply services.
The investment in human resources by international operators such as MH Bland underscores the importance of the Port of Las Palmas as a critical operational base for general cargo fleets, oil platforms, and container ships. The efficiency in the management of ship dispatch determines the competitiveness of the port against the logistical hubs of North Africa. The addition of these three new professionals equips the agency with the necessary structure to ensure the agile rotation of merchant ships at the terminals of the archipelago.
