The Chief of Logistics of Las Palmas has formalized the opening of the bidding process for the awarding of a Framework Agreement aimed at the logistical supply of Maritime Action Ships (BAM). The announcement, officially published in the Official State Gazette (BOE), details an estimated investment of 1,998,696.00 euros managed by the Ministry of Defense. This contract regulates the provisioning of critical spare parts during dry-docking periods and the execution of the Scheduled Immobilization Plans (PIP) for naval units that maintain their permanent base at the military facilities in the Gran Canaria capital. The administrative move underscores the role of the Canary Islands as an advanced operational base and logistical support hub for maritime control missions in the Atlantic axis and the western coast of Africa. The Maritime Action Ships represent the main vector of the Navy for maritime security operations, combatting illegal trafficking, controlling irregular immigration, and international deterrence missions. The geographical dispersion of the archipelago and its proximity to areas of geopolitical friction in the Sahel and the Gulf of Guinea demand a high state of operational readiness. The management of these scheduled immobilizations at the Arsenal in Las Palmas prevents the displacement of units to shipyards in the Iberian Peninsula, optimizing deployment cycles and significantly reducing the collateral operational costs arising from the maritime transit of crews.
