Five officials cleared for private-sector work
The overlap between public employment and private activities in state administration bodies in Las Palmas reflects a structure of secondary authorisations governed by current legislation. The Transparency Register consulted by Canarymaritime indicates that, within the Las Palmas port area and the entities linked to logistics and the maritime economy, five people obtained administrative approval to combine their ordinary duties with professional work in industrial engineering, financial advisory, teaching and the primary sector.
The cases involve different levels of corporate hierarchy. At the directive level, G.G., F., head of division at the Gran Canaria Port Authority, received on 11 February 2016 the resolution allowing him to practise as a technical architect. In the communications field, M.G., J. R., responsible for Communication and Image at the port authority, secured on 5 September 2017 the compatibility to deliver hands-on workshop teaching.
The resolutions issued regarding the workforce of the Port Police show a variety of authorised secondary activities. The officer A.P., J. M., attached to the Port Authority, was granted on 12 June 2014 authorisation to carry out livestock farming on his own account, while the port police officer S.M., S. obtained on 9 January 2014 approval for administrative tasks. At Puertos del Estado, officer M.E., J. (Group III, Band II, Level 3) received on 14 October 2025 a favourable resolution to teach in the area of healthcare and corporate safety.
Authorisations within the Port Police at Puertos del Estado also include G.C., B., who on 26 November 2024 added authorisation to work as an insurance agent for Generali, in addition to being a technical architect and urban planner. The register also records the proceedings handled for port police officer C.A., O., with a resolution dated 22 April 2016, and for A.H., J. B., registered on 9 July 2024.
Other centres of power
In the technical department for maintenance and navigational aid systems, C.F., M. N., a staff member at Puertos del Estado, obtained on 20 September 2024 the resolution to practise industrial engineering on her own account. In corporate management, G.A., C. R., an administrator at the state body, received on 26 March 2025 authorisation to provide health services.
